JRL Solutions Ltd carries out lighting assessments to help employers meet their obligations under legislation and best practice. Unsatisfactory lighting can lead to a range of health problems and discomfort which can have an effect on employee satisfaction and comfort.
The standards include the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations, relevant British Standards like BS EN 9241 and BS ISO 8995 and HSG 38 Lighting at Work.
All workplaces should have suitable and sufficient lighting. Suitability is concerned with the appropriate type and quality. Sufficiency is concerned with the level of lighting or illuminance, for which there are standards of good practice. Lighting should be such that it does not cause a significant risk to health and enable persons to work and move about safely.
Lighting assessment should be carried out by a competent person using an appropriate assessment methodology and includes the measurement of lighting parameters including illuminance. JRL Solutions Ltd is competent to carry out lighting assessments and uses the appropriate methodology and scientific instruments and equipment.
