HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

JRL Solutions Ltd audits health and safety management systems to help employers meet their obligations under legislation. If a health and safety management system is not in place JRL Solutions Ltd will evaluate your system requirements, write an appropriate system, provide a priority action plan and help you to implement it. Weakness in the management approach to health and safety is the main cause of occupational accidents and ill health.

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 organisations should implement an effective system of health and safety management. In the United Kingdom the approach often taken is through the following five elements of HSG 65. These elements are:-

  • Policy, which demonstrates what you are wanting to achieve, who is going to achieve it and how it is going to
    be achieved.
  • Organisation, which is concerned with the allocation of roles and respoinsibilities, culture, control,
    competence, co-operation and communication.
  • Planning and Implemenation, which is concerned with the setting of appropriate standards, objectives and
how you get these established and recognised within the organisation.
  • Measuring Performance, which includes both active and reactive monitoring of performance and uses
inspection, sampling, surveys and tours as wellas accident and incident investigation.
  • Reviewing Performance, which is the organisation’s ability to use its measurement of performance in order
to make judgements about its own performance sometimes using tools such as benchmarking. This is used to
    effcet improvements.
  • Audit is used to determine the effectiveness of each of the five elements of the management system by making
evidence based judgements using observation, discussion, study of documentation, measurement and possibly
    photographic record.

JRL Solutions Ltd is also equipped to provide solutions for organisations wanting to use other systems such as those based on British, European and International Standards.

If a health and safety management system is already in place JRL Solutions Ltd will evaluate the effectiveness of each element by collecting secure evidence and making recommendations for improvements.

If a health and safety management system is not in place JRL Solutions Ltd will evaluate your system requirements, write an appropriate system, provide a priority action plan and help you to implement it.
