JRL Solutions Ltd provides a one or two day course in Fire Safety and Risk Assessment. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 replaces previous fire safety legislation. Under this legislation the responsible person, who may be the employer or the person or persons in control of premises (occupier or owner) must carry out a fire risk assessment. The risk assessment must be carried out by a competent person. Employees must be provided with clear information on the risks identified by the risk assessment.
The course explains fire risk assessment and how it should be carried out. It further provides gudance on fire precautions. The syllabus includes:-
- Identifying fire hazards
- Identifying people at risk including special categories
- Evaluating, removing, reducing and protecting from risk
- fire risk and preventative measures
- fire detection and warning
- firefighting equipment and facilities
- evacuation and escape routes
- emergency lighting
- signage and notices
- compartmentation and construction materials
- Recording, planning, informing, instructing and training
- Reviewing assessment
The course is supported with practical exercises using appropriate documentation. All those who attend will be able to carry out fire risk assessment.
