The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 contains a requirement for employers to ensure that the users of display screen equipment receive training that reduces the risk to their health and safety when using any workstation at which they work. Whilst using a workstation users can suffer ill health including musculoskeletal aches and pains, work related upper limb disorders, eyestrain and fatigue and stress.
JRL Solutions Ltd provides a short session of about one and a half hours duration for users of workstations which meets the requirements of legislation for employers to provide adequate training. The session is usually carried out in the actual workplace of the users and not in a training room.
The syllabus includes:-
- responsibilities of employers and employees
- potential health problems associated with using display screen equipment
- recommended practice including postural issues
